What is the image saying?

Why is it that most of the images that accompany articles about gay marriage tend to show two men getting hitched? Considering that most people get their news from the pictures and the headlines, why do picture editors select images of two men/grooms holding hands or each other to visually depict this news? Is it to mock the straight women who apparently have the hardest time getting men to say I commit? Is it an attempt to counter the image that is promulgated about gay men as promiscuous ho's who can't commit to one night stands?
